FACTORY 10 / 17

Ecology, Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Factory

Makes environmental and social consequences visible before a project declares itself ready.

Short version. The full edition of this factory (14 September 2026), with history, geography, practical examples and annotated sources, is available in Russian. Full edition (Russian)

In simple terms

Any project changes land, water, air, routes, livelihoods and cultural ties to a place. The factory organises evidence, listening and verifiable options to reduce harm. It does not turn consultation into a formality and never declares the consent of a community as obtained.

Who it helps

Communities, indigenous peoples, local initiatives, land users, municipalities, companies, investors, universities and authorities.

Questions you can bring

What you receive

How quality is checked

Clear language, a date and source for each statement, no substitution of opinion for consent, and the possibility to challenge a record. Traditional knowledge, sacred sites and sensitive coordinates need a separate access regime.

Three example requests

Village

“A bridge is needed across a seasonal stream.”

City

“A quarry is planned near pastures.”

Region or country

“How do we compare sites for a wind farm?”

Status: an approved direction of development. These pages describe capabilities; they do not state that a permanent service is already operating or promise funding, partnerships or results.

Describe your challenge

Describe the task, the territory and what you already know. A factory is engaged only by your choice, and an automatic receipt never replaces a considered answer.
